COLLECTING

"K.C.s Krazy Chase" it won a Certificate of Merit in the category of "1984 Most Humorous Video Game/Computer Game" at the 5th annual Arkie Awards. Ed Averette, the author has maintained the rights to this character and to this day is compiling a game for the PC continuing this classic franchise with windows titles such as KC and the Battling B-Cell and KC Cracks the Code! After the applications to court by Atari's Nolan Bushnell. Ed was relishing the idea of facing Atari in court over the differences between the KC franchise and Pacman but never got the opportunity. Back then the principle was that if the code wasn't copied, then there was no copyright infringement. Atari went for a "look and feel" angle which probably would have been more accepted in today's world, but back then simply looking and the feeling was not enough to claim copyright infringement. KC were the initials of the then president of Magnavox and the name was chosen specifically to influence the board of directors for investment into the release of the title.
